What is the Hemlock Happening?

The Hemlock Happening is a day of fun for all the family. In all started in 2001 when a group of people who live in Bramcote and Stapleford got together to talk about the possibility of organising an event to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. This led to the Bramcote and Stapleford Golden Jubilee Group being formed which put together an event called “The Hemlock Happening” - a day-long programme of performances (singing, music and drama) by local schools and other groups culminating in a fantastic firework display. The performances took place in the walled garden area of Bramcote Hills Park which commands a superb view of the Hemlock Stone, a local natural outcrop of sandstone, hence the name of the event. An estimated 2000 people enjoyed this first Hemlock Happening. Buoyed on by this success the Bramcote and Stapleford Golden Jubilee Group went on to plan further Hemlock Happenings and each year they get bigger and better. The events always take place on a Saturday in June.

Balloon Released

In 2008 the 7th Hemlock Happening will take place on 7th June. Again there will be a Main Stage (in the walled garden) with a variety of performances. As always, the day will finish with a Fireworks finale. There are a large number of Arts Activities and Field Activities providing fun and activities for all the family. You will be abe to purchase food and drink from a number of Catering outlets. Come for the whole day and have a great day out. And remember, it’s all free.

Welcome to the Hemlock Happening

This year it’s on 7th June 2008

All the fun happens at Bramcote Hills Park in full view of the Hemlock Stone. The festivities start at 1pm and end with a fireworks finale at 10:30pm.

In between you can enjoy song, dance, drama, music and much more, all presented by lots of different people from schoolchildren to granddads and grandmas. Food and drink, children’s fairground rides, archery… and lots of other activities that will keep you busy all day. And it’s all free.
We look forward to seeing you there!
